Full proposal

Tree to be removed is a Eucalyptus Gunnii (Cider Gum), and is Tree T5 on the tree survey drawing. The applicant is planning to do a rear extension. The soil sample tested has indicated a high plasticity soil of thick clay, and due to the proximity of the eucalyptus tree in the garden, any proposed foundations to this property or surrounding properties would require a depth exceeding 2.5m. The eucalyptus is an extremely high-water demand tree which could cause issues in the future, not just to future works but the main house and neighbouring properties in the Conservation Area, which based on the style and age of the properties would have shallow brick spreader foundations. Based on arboricultural advice, this tree is not suitable for a suburban rear garden and continuous pruning would not be sufficient to negate subsidence risk.
