Introduction of new slate-clad dormer extensions on the north and east roof pitches, housing ventilation ductwork and plant for the Contemporary Art Gallery and common areas; façade interventions, including retention of existing blind windows to the east elevation; removal of glazed structure from sunken East Wing courtyard and replacement with stone paved floor to create external terrace reinstating original arrangement and matching the West Court; new lighting to vestibule; alterations to the East Wing roof to accommodate new plant areas and associated access structures, including removal of a pitched roof and installation of concealed flat roof plant area, plus alterations to new roof above historic lightwell; removal of the 1980s lift shaft, adjoining access corridor and partial chimney breast to enable the formation of new openings in the party wall with 152-153 Strand; installation of a new lift shaft and associated structure within the reconfigured lightwell with new lift and stairs and refurbished rooms; retention of East Wing Chambers Stair in existing position; removal at basement level; partial removal of internal walls within the large seminar rooms; reinstatement of a second-floor Contemporary Art Gallery within the current lecture theatre, with strengthened floor structure and refined finishes; adaption of existing cafe space at ground floor level to create new shop, including new openings in party wall to 152 Strand; and other internal alterations (Linked with 25/08530/FULL)
